1. Confidentiality
- All sessions are confidential and conducted in accordance with the ethical guidelines of professional therapy organisations such as IACP.
- Confidentiality may only be broken if there is a risk of serious harm to you or others, or if disclosure is required by law (e.g., child protection, court order).
- In the case of online therapy, reasonable efforts are made to ensure digital confidentiality, including the use of secure platforms (e.g., Zoom).
2. Session Booking and Cancellation
- Sessions are by appointment only. You can book by phone, email, or via our website.
- Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may be charged in full unless due to emergency circumstances.
3. Fees and Payment
- Session fees will be clearly communicated at the time of booking.
- Payment is due at the end of each session unless otherwise arranged. Online sessions must be paid for in advance.
- Accepted payment methods include cash, bank transfer, or card (where available).
- Concession rates may be available upon request and based on individual circumstances.
4. Online Therapy Terms
- Clients are responsible for ensuring they have a stable internet connection and private space for sessions.
- Therapy With John uses secure platforms for online therapy (e.g., Zoom), but cannot guarantee absolute privacy due to the nature of internet communication.
- It is advised that you do not record sessions unless discussed and agreed upon with your therapist in writing.
5. Therapeutic Boundaries
- The therapeutic relationship is professional and bound by ethical codes of conduct.
- Communication outside of session times should be limited to scheduling, cancellations, or emergencies, and will be responded to during business hours.

6. Termination of Therapy
- You are free to end therapy at any time. It is recommended, where possible, to discuss termination with your therapist so that closure can be handled respectfully and supportively.
- Therapy With John also reserves the right to terminate therapy if a client presents with needs outside our scope of practice, violates ethical boundaries, or is unable to maintain a therapeutic relationship.
7. Data Protection and Record-Keeping
- Therapy With John complies with GDPR. Personal information and session notes are stored securely and used solely for clinical and administrative purposes.
- You have the right to request access to your data or request corrections.
- Records are kept for a period in line with professional guidelines (typically 7 years) before being securely deleted or destroyed.
8. Liability Disclaimer
- While we aim to provide effective and ethical care, therapy outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
- Therapy With John and its practitioners are not liable for any decisions or actions taken by clients outside the therapeutic setting.
- By participating in therapy, clients accept personal responsibility for their mental health journey.
9. Agreement to Terms
By attending sessions with Therapy With John (in-person or online), you agree to these Terms and Conditions. You may request a printed or digital copy of this document at any time.
